At a minimum, there is a 60-day waiting period from the date of filing before a divorce can be granted, but an uncontested divorce is realistically likely to take several months. A complex, litigated divorce can take several years.

If your divorce is uncontested, you may be able to get a divorce either with a single appearance in court or no appearance.

A will is a decedent’s instructions regarding their estate. Probate is the legal process of validating a will and making certain that assets and debts are treated properly under the law. Probate is a process that can happen whether a will does or does not exist. Without a will, the decedent would die intestate, which can complicate the probate process and make it longer.

Probate can cost an estate a great deal, which is why many people want to avoid it.
